Simon Field | A weaker gold color than many of its peers, almost silvery in places; old silver. Then the nose is classic and pleasing; grape skins, peaches, and mandarin. In the mouth, the concentration is medium, no more, the grapey pineapple core is subtle supple and attractive. The finish just falls a little sort, compared with the very best examples in this tasting. | 90
Andrew Jefford | Deep and golden-honeyed. Very sweet and enticing, with a great wave of marzipan and butter-seeping pâtisserie. Some rot, some seaweed, copious dripping summer fruits— Sauternes, in other words, just as we like it. Succulent, sweet, sumptuous, rich, gratifying, tangy, and long—it’s all here. A totally gorgeous, hedonistic experience: a sweet hammam, a full-body massage with honey, lemon, and balsam; Greek pastries turned into wine. Lovely extravagant down-the-line Sauternes from a great vintage, and no need to wait at all. So, what the hell are you all waiting for? | 94
