Stephen Brook | Subdued cherry nose with welcome clarity of fruit and evident ripeness without excesses. This is fresh and bright, with concentrated ripe fruit and good underlying acidity. The tannins are fine-grained, and the acidity gives intensity. There’s an appealing silkiness to the texture. Still very tight, this surely has good aging potential. Poised and long, but still very youthful. | 94
Andrew Jefford | Deep glowing garnet; handsome in the glass. Sweet, soft, understated; cream and grain and vellum. Lots of ease and repose; unforceful and in a way unfocused aromas, but quietly satisfying all the same. After some time in the glass these gather force but, oddly enough, also seem to trigger a little reduction; this clears with more time in the glass, and the wine settles back down into a calm, understated charm. Vivid, clear, and cleanly expressed. Attractively pure cherry and currant fruits, with a sustained, refreshing charge of acidity and sound tannins. Plenty of dry mushroom and root spice at the finish. Ample, mouth-filling, and articulate. | 90
Michael Palij | Elegant but not desperately pronounced nose, with notes of redcurrant, cherry, strawberry, orange zest, bergamot, and coffee. On the palate, this is fresh and vibrant, with ripe tannins and refreshing acidity. The length is medium and delivers a decent slug of Brunello oomph, but it doesn’t excite. | 93
