Andrew Jefford | Dark, dense black-red in color, with a splendid roasty-ripeness on the aromatic profile. Exuberant blackcurrant fruits, cream, fine perfumer’s spices, those meat roastings, even a little yellow summer stonefruit, too—it’s all here. Admirable. On the palate, this wine is slightly lighter framed and finer textured than many of its Pauillac peers, but in terms of concentration, of complexity, and of meaty Pauillac classicism it gives ground to few. There is huge resource, depth, and savory sinew here: one of the most complete and amply referenced wines of the commune. | 95
Michael Schuster | A tight, briskly blackcurrant and cedar nose; beautifully balanced, full, fresh, finely but firmly tannic wine; deep and sweet to taste, sapid, succulent, a particularly fruit-marked and also very fine GPL, long and complex and satisfying, and with a lovely length of aftertaste. A splendid, “give it plenty of time” expression. 2035–55+. | 93
