Andrew Jefford | Very dark black-red. Vigorous, beautifully seamless scents of blackcurrant fruits and tea leaves: pungent, fresh, pure, and classy. Deep, mouthfilling, and a little richer than many of its peers, not just with the fresh blackcurrant but also notes of pepper, beef stock, and caramelized steak scrapings; a touch of burned raisin, too. Superb tannins for St-Julien, and astonishing concentration and drive. This landmark St-Pierre is a wine of huge power and density. It’s less classical than some of its peers but hugely impressive nonetheless, and it will last very well. | 93
Michael Schuster | A fine blend to smell of discreet blackcurrant cabernet, oak cedar and Médoc gravel; rich, medium-full wine, with a freshly defining acidity and a firm but fine-textured tannin; sweet tasting, sapid, savory, gently grippy St-Julien, long in the mouth, full of defining vitality and with lovely fruit and aroma length. A most complete, long-term St-Pierre. 2030–45+. | 93
