Andrew Jefford | Dark, dense black-red. Earthy, warm, milky, and gentle, with what appear to be chocolate and ground-hazel notes over the sumptuous fruits. It needs some teasing out, but is very attractive once you get aromatic lift-off. On the palate, it is generously styled, almost beefy—a little glimpse of Pauillac in St-Julien. Much better, broader, and more succulent tannins than most of its St-Julien peers, even though there is a little less downdraught and incision to the fruit. Excellent Talbot nonetheless: very pure and complete. | 92
Michael Schuster | A fine cedar and gravel and subtle blackcurrant Cabernet nose; medium-full wine, fresh in acidity, fine in tannin, beautifully balanced; long and subtle to taste, freshly sweet in its blackcurrant Cabernet flavors, gently gravelly, very long and aromatic in aftertaste; a fine medium- to long-term Talbot. 2030–40+. | 92
