Andrew Jefford | Dark black-red, with some purple at the rim. Pure blackcurrant fruits, and a warmer style than in some parts of the appellation: a cushion rather than a shard. Not hugely detailed, but attractive and good. On the palate, this is generous but oddly enough lacks some of the crisp purity that is found amply elsewhere in Margaux in 2016. The acidity is much lower than elsewhere... yet the wine is still not particularly ample or concentrated. Perhaps yield is the solution to the enigma; perhaps something else. Whatever the truth, this is an enjoyable, full-fruited wine expressing its commune in terms of accessible grace rather than intensity and slenderness. Its delicious drinking balance will serve it very well. | 91
Michael Schuster | Closed to smell, but finely gravelly; supple, medium-full wine, fresh in acidity, very fine in tannin, a very nice Margaux balance; sweet, fresh, gently fleshy cassis-cored flavor, long and graceful, subtle and classy, and with fine, fragrant length. A fine second growth Margaux. Accessible now because so fine-textured, better in a few years. Lovely. 2024–42+. | 93
