Michael Schuster | Merlot-blackberry ripeness to the fore at the moment; medium-full wine with a nice concentration, fresh and moderately tannic; a sweetly ripe, juicy core flavor, succulent and seductive for St-Julien (look at the proportion of Merlot here), almost lip-smackingly appealing, but also subtle and classy and complex, and with fine fruit length, if a little oak-dry at the moment. Very good, if not top, Beychevelle. Likely to need time to absorb its slight oak-dryness. 2032–45+.
