Michael Schuster | A dense, cassis-ripe core to smell; full-bodied, firmly tannic, freshly defined, concentrated wine; plenty of juicily ripe, fleshy textured, black-ripe fruit, warm, mouthcoating, satisfying, and with a good length of flavor and good length of fruit-cored aftertaste, but all within a very firmly tannic, new-wood-marked frame. A powerful expression of Margaux, speaking, this year, at least as much of its winemaking interpretation as of its Margaux origins. It’s very good wine, it’s a style, if less Margaux than usual this year. It will need a decade at least, and probably longer, to mellow. 2032–50+.
