Michael Schuster | Dense and subtly minerally to smell; full and fresh and finely tannic, a lovely balance; both rich and fleshy, but also tautly contained, ripe in blackcurrant Cabernet fruit, freshly defined, shot through with fine mineral aromas, all framed by a particularly delicately textured tannin; long and complex, mouthcoatingly aromatic, and with great gravel-scented length to finish. A very refined, most complete, elegant and aristocratic La Lagune. Beautiful wine, the finest yet? So fine-textured that it is likely to be accessible relatively early, given its quality. 2029–50+.
