BUY THE WINE

Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve: A wine that is true to itself: great color, superb cedar nose, rich, smooth, classy substance, and excellent integration of oak. 18

Michael Schuster: Softly ripe, blackberry-fruit nose; very nicely balanced, firm, medium-weight, with a fresh acidity and firm tannin; lovely, fresh ripeness of fruit at the heart of this, a long, sweet, spicy, and gently minerally flavor followed by very good length. The firmly tannic frame means a medium to long-term wait, but this will make a typically satisfying, fine, solid St-Julien. 2020–35+. 16.5/17
