BUY THE WINE

Bruno Besa | Intense ruby to garnet. Mature, complex, muscular, black-fruit nose, with prunes, black cherries, smoked meat, cedarwood, forest undergrowth, and Mediterranean herbs. Full-bodied, with sweet black fruit, balanced tannins, and a long, ripe finish. Generous, big wine for mid-term aging. | 91

Andrew Jefford | Clear black-red. Warm, rich, resonant, vivid, with lively mature fruits glowing: very attractive, and sweetly so. Red and black fruits, nuts, underbrush, sweet herbs, and hillside plants all sketched out rather subtly. Impressive intensity and concentration here, more than the aromas outlined; indeed, I feel that this very fine wine needs more time to acquire full aromatic intricacy. This is deep, arresting, brimful of bright, deep, searching plum and damson fruits, but it has magnificent tannins and bright, riveting acidity, too. It’s in the aftertaste that you can gauge the aromatic complexity and refinement to come: a smoke of herbs, undergrowth, root spice, and funghi. Outstanding. | 95

Anthony Rose | Medium ruby; the nose is quite shy, as yet to unfurl, brooding, but a tad spicy and savory at the same time. An initial note of sweet dark fruit on the palate, not wholly pure, the oak slightly getting in the way of the fruit. A very pleasant drink, with no hard edges from the tannins, and the acidity is quite juicy, but it could do with more fruit. | 88
