Simon Field | Apparently more youthful, episcopal coloring at the rim and a bright, confident hue. Here there is more by way of primary red fruit, with rosehip and blackberry to the fore, a nice tableau of forest floor and pine needle, balancing acidity, and an attractive, softly assertive finish, which defies youthful inclinations and points to a worthy development. There is gentle poetry here and a temptation to seek out more. | 93
Andrew Jefford | Red-black, though clear and light. Ample fresh fruit, almost orchard-like in style, with notes of apple and plum, as well as sweet strawberry; pretty and aerial. We are a long way from the giganticism of Priorat’s reputation; this is a Grenache that almost comes across like a sweet, fragrant Pinot. Very attractive. I note the tea-leaf notes in both this wine and the next and wonder if that is in some way related to schist, since you also find this in the Douro (where it is traditionally assigned to Touriga Nacional). Pure, deep, fresh, light, and lively on the palate, with much more detail than our (no less light) [Terroir Al Limit Les Manyes Priorat]: redcurrant, blackcurrant, red cherry, apple, even cranberry—and it’s not often you see cranberry in Grenache. Remarkable poise and gathered force here and very light, stealthy tannins. A completely different aesthetic to the Rhône Valley vision of Grenache, but this works terrifically well. | 91
David Williams | Red-plum and a plum- or cherry-stone bitterness; almond and almond blossom; energy, even a bit of tension (not a very Garnacha-ish quality, generally speaking). A feeling of sun- borne intensity but without excess or fat; a pure Mediterranean Garnacha. | 93
