Neil Beckett | As with the Pommard above, this is surely unsurpassed of its type. From old vines, ravaged by millerandage, so very low yields, but very healthy and ripe, which allowed Grégory to retain 50% of the stems, which may have contributed to the aromatic freshness of the wine, though there is hardly any sign of them as such (certainly no negative trace). Real depth on the palate, and exciting freshness on the flourishing finish, but enrobed in the softest velvet: a superb texture. No SO2 to "burn the terroir," as Grégory believes now, and Serpentières certainly shows through supremely well here. | 92–93
