BUY THE WINE

Neil Beckett | Only the second vintage from a "super" parcel of 45-year-old vines, harvested at perfect ripeness on September 4. Medium-deep ruby. A completely captivating, harmonious, and intricate scent, pure raspberry and subtle spice (50% whole-bunch, 50% new Chassin oak), the other allusions being not animal but floral. Balance, elegance, freshness, and grace on the palate, and another gloriously fine texture. Certainly not "all in finesse"—there is proper grand cru intensity as well—but finesse may well be the most remarkable of its many qualities. | 94–95
