Andrew Jefford: Deep and dark black-red, though translucent; nonetheless very deep-hued for a 2015. Ripe, warm, and sweet-scented, and not particularly fruity at this juncture; perhaps on the cusp between primary and secondary expressions. Not unattractive but nothing overtly attractive here either. Wet sand and vegetation rather than fruit. Deep and overtly ambitious on the palate, and probably the first wine in this tasting where it might just be argued that ambition has occluded the essential “Pinot- ness” that drinkers are presumably looking for in Sancerre red. I’d certainly hope for more aromatic enchantment, but there is real generosity and concentration on the palate and the classic qualities of Pinot fruit are nonetheless palpable for me: gathered red fruits, with some earthy tannic support and an overall freshness of profile that acidity levels at this latitude still have to deliver. I would greatly relish this, and it’s a very serious wine, which time may yet return to aromatic resonance. | 90

Jasper Morris: A full medium-deep color, with some dark plum notes to the bouquet. There is very good fruit- weight here and it is holding up well. Definitely falls into the food-wine category. The oak has been used intelligently and there is good length. I think it should hold safely for another year or two. | 88

Catherine Petrie: In stark contrast to the previous wine [Pascal Jolivet Sancerre Sauvage Pinot Noir Loire 2015] there is concentrated medium crimson, and aromas of dark, ripe fruit burst from its surface. Sugared raspberries and baked pastry indicate concentrated low-yielding fruit, and a generous amount of new oak. This wine is flashy, concentrated, and glossy. Clearly made with confidence and ambition. The tannins are still firm, but their fine-grained nature should only need another year or two to really sing. Keep, and watch. This is a beauty. | 92
