Bruno Besa | Pale garnet to tawny. Elegant, restrained, orange-peel and red-currant nose, with intense mineral character and hints of rose water and road tar. Medium to full body, with intense aromatic character of smoke, tea leaf, and small red fruit. Long and weightless finish. Medium-term. | 92
Andrew Jefford | Translucent garnet rose-red; relatively pale against its peers. Some vegetal notes mingling with the boisterous fruits here. This wine really needs air to sort itself out, which it does, and after five minutes you’ll find something fresh, light, both floral and fruity, modestly charming. Only “modestly” since those vegetal notes remain present and disconcert slightly; perhaps a different mixed ripeness signal to some of the others we have seen in this tasting. On the palate, it is quite a simple wine in terms of the grain and sweetness of its fruit, but that floral streak is very appealing. Yet again, a wine that will provide ample drinking pleasure, so don’t be dissuaded by what seem to be “low” scores. There’s lots of fun here. | 86
Michael Palij | Dominant SO2 aromas strip this wine of some of its potential richness. Although the wine shows some richness on the palate, the abiding sensation is one of angularity that starts with the nose and continues through to the finish. | 82
