Andrew Jefford | Dark, saturated black-red. As with many of its Margaux peers, the oak treatment is clearly palpable this year but not unbalanced (and less evident than for d’Issan). The sweet blackcurrants are no less palpable, and you can clearly see that the riper fruits have gone into this wine than into the Baron de Brane. It has milky grace, too; great charm and classicism overall. Shapely, fresh, and fine-grained on the palate. The balance tilts it clearly toward acidity rather than tannin, though it is deficient in neither; the blackcurrant fruits are pure and singing, and it has Margaux grace all the way from its dainty toes to its perfectly arranged chignon. | 92
Michael Schuster | Fairly closed still, but soft, fine, plummy Merlot to the fore here; rich, fresh, beautifully balanced medium-full wine, with a fine defining tannin; crisply sweet fruit, long, succulent, elegant, complex, and aromatic. On the firmer side for the commune in the year, but no lack of finesse, and with lovely fresh length of fruit and aroma. A most complete Brane, which will give a lovely bouquet and great Margaux pleasure. 2027–45+. | 94
