BUY THE WINE

Andrew Jefford | Dark black-red, with fragrant blackcurrant and chocolate richness. Some nascent tobacco, too. Not billowingly aromatic, but sound, satisfying, and pure. The palate delivers very much what the nose suggested, being mid-weight, pristine, fresh, admirably organized and articulated, and very classical and digestible, with medium levels of intensity and concentration. Lovely Couhins (and Pessac-Léognan) for the medium term. | 90

Michael Schuster | Reserved but clearly very ripe-fruited to smell; full, fresh, fairly tannic, quite muscular for the cru; juicily ripe fruit, lightly oak-vanilla marked, and fairly firmly tannin-framed. No coarseness, but needing time to bind and mellow; moderate complexity, good light length. 2021–30+. | 87
