Stephen Brook | Apple compote and apricot on the nose. The attack is fresh and polished but it’s one-dimensional, as so often, and lacks nuance and weight. Bastor doesn’t pretend to be other than a well-made, sensibly priced commercial Sauternes, and this fits the bill. This escapes the sheer dullness of Bastor in lesser vintages, but it’s unexciting. Moderate length. | 86
Andrew Jefford | Bright gold; soundly sweet aromas, though without any particular intricacies or enchantments. Satisfactory overall fattiness, though. This is much what you find on the palate —a lovely if straightforwardly sweet wine that majors on sweet lemon, honey, and melon. | 88
