Simon Field: An attractive style, the fruit character not overplayed, soft silk rather than velvet, floral and with pin-point precision in the tannins. A country church rather than a grand cathedral, dignity and a bucolic mind-set; harvest supper and plenty to contemplate. Then the soft peel of the bells. | 92
Andrew Jefford: Saturated, black-red, though a little less leggy than some. Pepper, brandy, and warm stone scents; correct and attractive. Deep and gutsy, with an animal edge to it. Fair work for the year, though it doesn’t quite have the fresh poise and creamy finesse of the very best wines of the vintage. | 85
Richard Mayson: Deep, opaque in color, with powerful kirsch aromas and a tropical richness about it on the nose. Similarly voluptuous on the palate, full, packed with morello cherry fruit, supported by broad, ripe tannins leading to a huge finish. But I question whether the finesse is there for the long term. | 89
