Simon Field: A young and somewhat unassuming wine, a floral imprint on the ripe fruit complemented by chalky tannins, elderflower, and raspberry compote. Of an ethereal disposition, this example sings with great purity; a nightingale in the early summer. Lots to look forward to. | 90
Andrew Jefford: A saturated “double black”—a wine through which the light can be cajoled to shine only reluctantly. Pure, fresh, fine-grained, forceful, and searching, these are very fine black-fruit aromas, with ample lift and finesse. You almost sense they are in abeyance, quietly biding their time for the moment; this is a less overwhelming aromatic presence than for some of its peers, but very complex and intricate. On the palate, this is generous and exuberant, deep, sweeping in style, with lots of both red and black fruits; the tannins are dense, fine-milled, thick, and coating. There’s a creamy charm to it, but also an authority and a force. Another outstandingly exciting wine from this great vintage. | 93
Richard Mayson: Deep, opaque; open, with rather green hedgerow fruit on the nose; lovely, soft, berry and plum fruit on the palate supported by firm tannins, which retain a hard, green edge on the finish. | 86
