Jesús Barquín:Mahogany brown with an amber rim. Nutty, spicy, concentrated, and very old (cathedral) on the nose. Again, spices and orange peel on the palate, with a nice structure where the bitterness from age balances the sweetness, and the alcohol is beautifully mellowed. 95
Andrew Jefford:Very pale and translucent now. Refined and elegant scents: mint, pressed raisins, burned orange, pungent rue. Almost dry from the off on the palate, so intense is its acidity and aged refinements. But give it time, and the full aromatic spectrum unburdens on the palate in an impressively sweet-dry-bitter display of flavory gymnastics. Lots more of those herbal perfumes crowd the finish. An essence-like wine, and a source of wonder. 93
Richard Mayson:Mid-to-pale amber-orange; delicate lifted candied citrus-peel and crystallized-fruit aromas, with a touch of wood smoke; soft, sweet, and refined, singed citrus fruit, seemingly quite dry, long and refined, with a lithe grapefruit marmalade finish, retaining its freshness all the way through. 94
