Simon Field: Dark, lifted, powerful, robust and muscular, the imprimatur of cassis and black cherry hard to resist. Assertive tannins battle with the ripe fruit; an honorable conflict, its outcome confidently predicted to assume a lyrical dimension, its complexity very satisfying. | 91
Andrew Jefford: Dark, dense black-red, very nearly opaque. Lots of mixed fruits here: plum, black cherry, blackberry, and blueberry; just a touch of menthol and other herbs. Very complex aromatically, as so many 2000s are. Close-knit and tight on the palate; a firm cricket ball of livid black fruits, with unusually prominent acidity. This wine is almost fierce in its tight shapeliness and control. For me, there is a lack of amplitude and charm, of secondary nuance and creamy seduction, concentrated though it may be. | 88
Richard Mayson: Deep center, thin, youthful, purple rim; ripe cherry and plum fruit emerging on the nose, but there is still more to give; round and opulent on the palate, seemingly very sweet and a touch jammy mid-palate, backed by ripe, round tannins which rise up on the finish. This could be drunk now (just), but would be better in five years, then to drink to 2045. | 91
