Simon Field: An attractive nose; gum cistus, violets, ripe blackberry and raspberry compote; fruit-forward in other words, its weight in the mouth focusing on refinement, crisp acidity, naturally wrought, and an elegant fruit personality which has great potential to evolve. Not the most strident of examples, but this is to its credit, especially in the fortified category. | 92
Andrew Jefford: Dark black-red, though once again not quite opaque at the wine’s heart. A sweeter, warmer, and more savory scent than many of its peers, with some palpable brandied warmth. A little aggressive on the palate, as is the vintage style, with pugnacious tannins and the fruit slightly struggling to catch up. | 84
Richard Mayson: Deep center, thin purple rim; sultry on the nose, brooding, with stalkiness underlying; rich, supple initially, broad, ripe tannins rising in the mouth but with a rather hard green edge underlying on to the finish. One-dimensional. 2023–45. | 84
