Jesús Barquín:The nose exemplifies the less noble of the two profiles present in the casting, with some moldy notes. There is a certain blandness confirmed by the palate, though the finish—marked by intense licorice aromas—is powerful, as befits this type of wine. 13.5

Richard Mayson:Deep crimson color; rather green, leafy aromas, rather gawky after the last wine; soft and succulent initially, firm spicy tannins rising in the mouth. Quite austere on the finish, rather simple and one-dimensional, but a decent wine for the medium term. 13

Charles Metcalfe:Big, rich, chocolate and treacle. Considerable complexity—already. Good, complex wine, with big, ripe tannins, good acidity, and terrific fruit. Lovely notes of cedar and blackcurrant, beautiful balance. Shows the freshness and balance of the vintage while retaining power and potential for development. 18.5
