Stephen Brook | Ripe but leesy on the nose, so its precise character is obscured by coming from a tank sample. Rich and forthright on the palate, but it is fluid and lacks some grip and pungency. There’s some minerality on the finish, but I find this hard to judge because at present it lacks harmony. | 86

Andrew Jefford | Bright silver-gold. This comes right after the last of the Caillottes wines (Les Cotes aux Valets), and there is a notable dropping away in terms of pungency, with a slightly more reductive style (but it is, after all, a tank sample!) and sweet, earthy simplicity. There is plenty of intrigue here, nonetheless. Bright and fresh, sappy, still with some muddle of ferment. I think we should refer to the 2016 for a fair fix on this cru. Provisional score: | 89

Stephan Reinhardt | This tank sample reveals a Saar Riesling-like purity, florality, and freshness, with aromas of blackcurrant and weathered stones. On the palate, this is a full-bodied, powerful, but elegant, very mineral, and tightly structured Sancerre, with a very long, pure, and crunchy finish. Highly promising and stimulatingly salty. | 94
