Stephen Brook | Ripe, forthright, appley nose. Plump and ripe, yet has enough acidity to keep it from being heavy or coarse. The maturity gives a touch of sweetness, though I doubt it has residual sugar. There’s more overt fruit than most silex wines, but I miss the mineral bite, which is subdued here. But highly drinkable and quite long. | 88
Andrew Jefford | Bright green-gold. Primary, fresh, nettly, urgent; almost rawly sappy, but very attractive given that character. This is a much juicier, more round-contoured wine than most of its clay/ silex peers. There’s a searching acidic structure as usual, and plenty of length and purity. There’s also more “stoniness” than in any of the other clay/silex wines, though whether this is due to site and soil or to the producer’s approach is hard to say. Anyway, an excellent effort here. | 91
Stephan Reinhardt | Scents of tropical fruit on the intensely aromatic nose. This is a textured, quite fruity and powerful Sancerre, seemingly from a warmer climate or vintage. It is rich and intense, well structured, and slightly tannic, but still elegant and with good salinity. Good length as well. Still young, though. | 91
