Andrew Jefford | Saturated dark black-red in color. Generously sweet and svelte on the aroma, both from sumptuously ripe blackcurrant fruits and from the discreet vanilla oak. A pencilly sheen brings it all together in classy style, and the overall freshness of the vintage is captured in the gratifyingly luxurious aromatic profile, too. On the palate, this is an amply contoured mid-weight, with very fine tannins and pure, singing, sweet-edged fruits: outstanding work. Poyferre is a property that never seems to slip up. 2018–28. | 92

Michael Schuster | Sweetly ripe and seductive in fruit to smell; full and generous for St-Julien; lively, finely tannic, a complete, juicy, long-term constitution; rich and ripe in flavor, long to taste, aromatic, complex, and with very fine length of aftertaste, too; long-term firmness of constitution, sappy and gently muscular, and needing a decade at least. 2030–45+. | 93
