Victoria Daskal | A medley of seductive smoke and passion fruit follows through on the palate, gaining intensity with the addition of bright lemon acidity and concentrated apple skins. Overall, very drinkable on its own, even if the fruit concentration might dominate most food. | 91
Jamie Goode | Lively and fresh, with a green leafy edge to the tangerine and lemon fruit, with some herbal notes and a bit of pear richness. Nicely poised and fresh. | 91
Andrew Jefford | Almost full gold. A different tenor of aroma to many: grasses, lavender, verbena, vetiver. Attractive withal. Lots of fynbos typicity here. I’m not sure if proteas have a scent, but if they do, this is the way you would want them to smell: subtle, complex, otherwhere. On the palate, this unique character is admirably sustained, and the result is a serious, finely crafted Chenin without the immediate fruited allure of some of the other wines but with a haunting Cape uniqueness of its own. Magnificent wine and unquestionably one of the stars of the tasting. | 93
