Bruno Besa | Garnet to pink. Fairly closed, small red fruits nose, with violets and roses, fresh hey, sage, and tobacco. Medium to full body, with complex, layered, compact small black and red fruits palate, and a long, mineral, and complex finish. Great Barolo, needs time. | 94
Stephen Brook | Robust cherry nose, asserting and showing overt fruit. Quite rich and solid, with ample depth of fruit and polished tannins. The acidity gives it persistence, and highlights the red fruits on the palate. Well balanced if not hugely exciting. Surprisingly forward, too. | 90
Andrew Jefford | Clear, deep red. Somewhat constrained in aroma; mainly red fruits when first poured. A little time in the glass reveals gentle vegetal aromas of copse and field. Dry, brisk, long, with a rich tannic spectrum; refined and nuanced. You have to search inside the tannins (this is typical of Barolo) to find all the aromatic nuances, but they slowly reveal themselves, along with the glowing fruit. Dense and resonant—after a while. | 91
