Nicolas Belfrage: Attractive chestnut hue. Nicely perfumed on the nose: floral and plum. Firm acid and noticeable tannins; some rustic notes, which contribute to its charm, though this will not be drinking well for a few years yet (from 2017). 16.5
Bruno Besa: Garnet to tawny rim. Refined, clean, spicy nose, with orange marmalade, oriental spices, medicinal herbs, and cedarwood. Full body, balanced palate, with lively acidity and big tannins. Long, complex, austere Barolo. An old-school wine that will develop gracefully. 19
Andrew Jefford: Deep garnet red in color. Another wine with a relatively quiet, muted nose at this stage, but suggesting it will eventually unfold with the darker end of the repertoire: cinders and embers, chocolate and humus. A vivid, classic, impeccably balanced palate; satisfying Barolo, jolly good Barolo, rich with the innate planty complexities of this extraordinary variety in this extraordinary place. Not a hugely detailed or finely focused wine, though. If well priced, a great buy. 15
