Bruno Besa | Garnet to tawny. A mature, complex, mineral nose, with red stone fruits, orange marmalade, and crushed stones. Medium to full body, with an intense, salty palate and long, clean, small-red-fruit finish. | 92
Stephen Brook | Closed nose. Medium-bodied, delicate for Barolo, initially light, but there are firm underlying tannins to give it structure. This grows on the palate and the acidity ensures length and finesse. If only it had more concentration... | 88
Andrew Jefford | Clear, translucent red. Lovely ripeness evident on the nose: glowing, warm fruits but with plenty of earthy, humus-rich support behind. I challenge you to smell this and not smile! And that makes you think it might be in some way simple, but the more you sniff this wine, the more you will discover layer upon layer of subtlety and nuance; this has perhaps this finest aromatic profile of the day. On the palate, this is a very fine wine: deep, complex, long, open, expressive, and glowing, with ample ripeness, a gentle, open style yet given gravitas and depth by its fine tannic ballast. Triggered, secondary, allusive, and long: magnificent wine. | 95
