Bruno Besa | Pale garnet to tawny. A touch developed on the nose, with cedarwood, violets, prunes, and smoke. Medium body, with a balanced yet slightly diluted finish. | 86
Stephen Brook | Rich, toasty nose, with sweet oak and a savory edge, almost tarry, with a sprinkling of Indian spice. Broad, plump, and opulent, nicely concentrated, and distinctly savory, this already shows some complexity. There’s good depth of fruit here and a brooding chewiness. A modern- style Barolo but none the worse for that, and it has some force of personality. Long, spicy, and elegant. | 94
Andrew Jefford | Deep in color, but clear and limpid. Tarry, earthy, and savory aromas, with some bramble hedgerow, too: a late-autumn nose. Relatively soft in style compared to its firmer and brisker peers, and without quite the same allusive detail as the very best wines, this is nonetheless a very generously constituted, wide-beamed wine for the vintage, with lots of exuberance and reward in its unforbidding, highly drinkable style. | 91
