Andrew Jefford: without the exuberant extravagance of some of the other vintages. On the palate, this is a wine of great sobriety and seriousness: dense, long, and searching, but almost guarded in what it is prepared to give away at this stage. Qualitative, pure, and grand, but you have to hope that a little more cellar time will allow the wine to acquire more expressivity.
