BUY THE WINE

Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve: Classy range of aromas combining liquorice, cherries, raspberries and new leather, plus harmonious tannins, lots of length and good breeding. All in all, well up to the standard of a premier grand cru classé, with all the quality of its terroir. A terrific success. 17

Margaret Rand: Rich damson and plum fruit, good and concentrated. Tannins are quite chewy, but ripe. Good concentration on the finish. 17

Michael Schuster: Dense, concentrated, sweet black-cherry fruit nose. Elegantly balanced, firmly tannic wine with a lovely core of pure, fresh, ripe fruit and good length. Seems a bit more severe than it has been recently. 15+
