Jancis Robinson: Red/garnet. Warmth and spice, hint of ‘warm rubber’ – ripeness. Very much alive – plenty of fruit, but oak in correct balance, even a bit of tannin on the finish. Probably good for a few more years yet. 16
Jeremy Watson: Bright colour with traces of purple still there. Strangely closed on the nose, but fruit and oak tannins showing through. In the mouth there is a rich youthfulness about the combination of fruits, tannin and acids. This sort of wine fully justifies the view that ’94 was one of the vintages of the 20th century, because there’s plenty of life in this one still. 18.5
