Stephen Brook: Medium straw. Very rich, peachy nose, slightly honeyed, opulent and beguiling. Rich but has a tremendous attack, with a burst of peachy fruit and lively acidity, a long, sherbetty aftertaste and a fine balance between ripe fruit and underlying acidity. Drinkable but will be even better in five years. Lime finish. Good length. 18
Simon Field: Limes and capsicum on the nose, typical in its effortless juxtaposition of austerity and multiplicity. The palate is broad, infused with lime and bitter almonds. Attractive and well made, if a little ponderous. 17
Roy Richards: Heavy but luxurious nose of ripe peach. Quite the opposite to the Nikolaihof Riesling Smaragd Vom Stein Zu Mautern, this is exuberant, bordering on the flashy, with pronounced varietal flavour. It is saved – and defined – by minerality and length. A very good example. 18
