Andrew Jefford: Full lemon-gold. Rich, aromatically forthcoming but slightly estery, slightly pear-droppy. An almondy element, too, like a Bakewell tart. Concentrated and deep here, with mouth-rousing levels of vigorous, assertive fruit. Rather abrasive and unsubtle, in truth; has this wine been acidified? 12
Simon Larkin : Deeper in hue, more golden. Very ripe, heady aromas. The palate shows a honeyed edge to the vibrant apple and tangy fruit characters. Pithy again, which appears to be a criticism - mouthwatering grapefruit and little beyond. No great sense of balance or precision. An average effort, nothing more. 12
Alexander Scott: Complete change of gear. There is a great deal more aromatic depth and fascination here. The palate echoes this, with much more dry extract than the Wolf Forster Jesuitengarten. Fine wine, but ideally I’d have liked a little more freshness and zing on the finish. 15.5
