Michel Bettane: Almost partridge-eye colour with amber tones. Lovely autolysis, with pure lactic tones and buttery fragrances. Pinot Noir much in evidence. Slightly too oaked - probably aged in new barrels. Powerful, flavoursome, well-balanced palate, ultra-pure fruit, fine breeding. A splendid table wine. 15.5
Simon Larkin : Deep note to the colour; moderate bead. A hazelnut, creamy oxidative quality to the aromas - creamy, toasty and lacking poise. Cumbersome, with that heavily oxidative aspect. Rich and weighty. Despite an absence of subtlety, there is a fresh acidity to the fore on the finish. 10.5
Anthony Rose: Quite deep gold in appearance, with a steady bead of small bubbles. Lots of reserve-wine age, and a possible touch of oak fermentation, with unusual barley sugar and honeyed oxidative characters from oak offset by a searing, almost-austere dryness on the palate, leaving the overall feeling of an idiosyncratic, love-it-or-leave-it style of undoubted quality. 16
