Simon Field: Rich purple colour; nose a little reticent, a touch of wood smoke. The palate has loganberries behind a slightly dusty profile; firm acidity but lacks real definition on finish. 14

Andrew Jefford: Dark, handsome wine, with its opaque stage barely finished. Firm, forceful, ringing blackcurrant fruit; almost creme de cassis-like. Still relatively tight and close-knit, with satisfying blackcurrant fruit notes. Mature, well-integrated tannins and a mid-length, tapered finish. Classic Vintage Port if not quite hitting the top notes. 15

Richard Mayson: Good, deep-ruby centre, thin purple rim. Very attractive open, ripe aromas of morello cherry, with a hint of bitter-chocolate concentration. Rich, pure, firm black-cherry flavours with solid tannins and good grip on the finish. Slightly lean and lacking flesh. Better in five years. 16
