Simon Field: One of our orphans, a solitary wine without the fanfare accolade afforded to a top vintage. Developed colour and an odd, slightly resinous nose, a little dusty. On the palate, this is well made and has nicely integrated spirit and fruit. It lacks a little of the concentration and savoir-faire of its better-connected neighbours, but not a bad effort for all that. 14.5
Andrew Jefford: Sound, mature (though not overmature) appearance, with the red holding well. Poor, TCA-compromised nose but no second bottle. Fair Port but bad bottle. My score is gauging the wine beneath as best I can... which seems round and fruity, though without any great nobility of fruit or density of flavour. 12
Richard Mayson: Mid-deep centre, thin browning rim. Woolly nose - reticent, with more to give? Rather ’green’. Fine, firm, though rather reticent fruit and well structured with a firm tannic finish. Good but lacks flesh. Drink now and over the next 15 years. 14
