The plot that gets the nod to be indented as a specific parcel (echoes of Chapoutier in Hermitage) is situated at an altitude of 1,000ft (300m) and is co-planted with Grenache (mostly) and Syrah. Fear not, because the vineyard falls within the purview of Mont Ventoux, thereby adhering to an ancient qualitative superstition. In 2019, its fruits are nearly olive black, with youthful aromas of blueberry and myrtle both held in check by oak and vanilla. Then, further behind are woodsmoke, licorice, and a whiff of laurel billowing gently. The palate is powerful, foursquare in youth, with ripe and magisterial tannins firmly in control, the sheer quality of the fruit calmly acquiescent, the creamy veneer a little too demonstrative at the moment; its time will come. Driving the drama is the attractive shard of acidity, pure and cleansing. | 92
