It had been rather a long time between the release of the fabulous 2003 Nacional and this one. Dark purplish ruby, with full opacity from center to rim. Offering expressive perfumed scents of fresh lavender, blackcurrant, brambly blueberry, and anise. It was enlightening to contrast the 2000 Nacional with this one. The 2000 was still showing like a restrained newborn by comparison, yet approachable considering it was decanted only to remove the sediment. The 2011 presented greater polish and, surprisingly, evolution. The aromatics translated directly to flavors on the palate and delivered a juicy and delicate impact, intense and glamorous for its age, with grippy tannins that appear only upon swallowing but provide cellarworthy appeal. This is yet another mind-blowing and youthful Nacional that will likely live into the latter quarter of this century. Only 220 cases were produced for sale, plus an additional 50 magnums. | 98+
