James Lawther: Difficult to see how Ausone could be any better. Certainly one of the greatest wines produced at this estate. Just doesn’t miss a beat. Dense, pure and, powerful on the nose. A wonderful quality of fruit: pure and sweet but fresh and vital at the same time. Beautifully refined, broad, velvety texture. Enormous but fine tannic frame. Great persistence and length and despite the discreet power everything in glorious harmony. An ageless wine. Superb. 2018–50. 19.5
