James Lawther: Definite power and concentration, but not the purity and elegance of more recent years. Red-garnet hue. Rich and ripe on the nose —notes of dried fruits, particularly prune. Prune note again on the palate, but backed by lively acidity. Ripe but fresh as well. Firm, muscular structure. Just beginning to open but more for the long haul. 2013–30. 18
