Andrew Jefford: Deep, dark black-red. Oaky and fresh, but some refined black fruit beneath; cranberry and elder, too. Some leafiness; some pepper. Complex for the year. Deep, textured, and long: lots of efforts here. There is a slight danger, though, that in concentrating, you will concentrate the intrinsic challenge to the drinker that the year offers, and produce a frightening acid-tannin-oak combination which the evanescent fruit cannot carry. This doesn’t quite fall into that trap, but we’re not far off. Now-2021. 86
Stephen Brook: Ample color. Piquant red-fruits nose but not herbaceous. Quite rich and concentrated, stern, distinctly tannic and perhaps a bit too extracted, but the finish is solid. Not green but not that alluring either. Medium length. 87
