Andrew Jefford: Deep black-red. This is honestly rather greentoned and herbaceous, which I didn’t expect from La Conseillante. Freshly attractive, to look on the bright side, with some of the customary creamy blackcurrant. On the palate, it is concentrated and has an ample core of fruit, while the tannins are soft, shaping, and well-managed, but that herbaceousness is hard to get away from and qualifies the palate from start to finish. Some might enjoy it and find it fresh, but I find it rather unappealing. Now to 2021. 87
Stephen Brook: Delicate raspberry nose, with elegant oak disguising the very slight herbaceousness. Medium-bodied and graceful, this hasn’t pressed the extraction petal too hard, and has let the fruit, albeit modest, speak for itself. The acidity gives some finesse and persistence rather than astringency. Balanced and stylish and with some aging potential. 91
