BUY THE WINE

Neil Beckett: Very deep, rich ruby/tawny, almost opaque. Still completely intact on the nose, focused and fragrant, with plum (remarkably) rather than prune. Composed but elegant, and very spry for its age: a Ray Beckwith of a wine (with reference to the Penfolds scientist who helped Max Schubert make his dream a reality, and who is still going strong in his 90s). Richly layered, silken texture, ample, expansive, and mouth-filling, still fresh and succulent through the mid-palate, with excellent length and weight; dry, slightly clinging tannins on the finish. Drink now. 17.5
