Stephen Brook: Very deep red. Sweet, plummy nose, very ripe but a touch surly and doesn’t leap from the glass. Rich, tightly wound, very concentrated, dense and chewy, with hefty tannins. Seems a touch rustic now; this furriness may well diminish with more time in bottle, but the fruit is still very subdued; modest acidity and length. St-Emilion? St-Christophe or St-Etienne? 16.5
Andrew Jefford: Deep red-black. Warm, sweet, orchestral, and earthy; composed and refined. Touch of mint. Artless yet so attractive… Smooth-textured and long, with preponderantly sweet opening flavors that taper away gratifyingly to become drier and more refined. Long and curranty. Deep and complex. Lovely finishing meatiness. Great penetration here. St-Emilion warm site? 17.5
Hugh Johnson: Color as before [La Fleur-Pétrus]. Forthright nose without much nuance; slightly stringy; oak showing. Tight and intense, massive tannins, acids astringent. Long, plummy flavor. Very young. 14
