Nicolas Belfrage: Medium deep with a youthful rim. Lots of ripe cherry and berry fruit on both nose and palate, considerable length and a very slight bitter hit. A bit backward as of now. Drink from 2018. 88
Stephen Brook: Deep red. Ripe fleshy nose, quite sweet and succulent, black cherries, chocolate mints. Supple and sleek attack, concentrated, with pep and spice and ample acidity. This is touch raw now but needs time to harmonize. Relatively forward in its sheer fruitiness. There’s both charm and intensity now, but it definitely demands more bottle age. A modern, super-ripe style, but well crafted and balanced. Good length. 90
Andrew Jefford: Deep, dark black-red. Some rawly yeasty notes form part of the aromatic profile here, but there’s also lots of dark plum and currant fruit and a soft, bay-leaf sweetness. Wax and incense. Very complex, secondary, and engaging aromas. On the palate, the wine is deep, complex, finely constructed, with splendid wealth of flavor, and highlighted by Sangiovese’s insistent acidity and aristocratic tannins. A very serious effort, and beginning to relax and unwind into early middle years. This is a wine whose progress I would love to follow, and with more pristine aromas it would merit a very high score. 89
